DC Order Assignment Specialist (Waver)

Founded in 2008 DMA Industries, LLC (DMA) has quickly grown to become a trusted supplier to the North American Automotive Parts Aftermarket. DMA has a dynamic, performance-driven work culture that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, team-work, collaboration, and an unwavering standard of ethics.

The DC Order Assignment Specialist (Waver) is responsible for the efficient and accurate allocation and release of customer orders to the Order Pickers and other warehouse associates. This role is the critical link between the customer order flow and the physical fulfillment process, requiring strong computer skills and a focus on optimizing labor resource usage and order priority. You will be responsible for the administrative function of order waving, system monitoring, and reporting daily progress toward key performance indicators (KPIs).

Note: This is an on-site position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Waving and Assignment: Utilize the distribution software system to wave, prioritize, and assign customer orders to Order Pickers and other work teams based on established criteria, order priority, shipping deadlines, and product availability.
  • System and Work Flow Monitoring: Continuously monitor the Distribution Center's work queues and various order assignment dashboards to ensure a steady and balanced workflow for all fulfillment teams.
  • Labor Coordination: Coordinate with Supervisors and Managers to adjust the order waving strategy and labor assignment based on shifting operational priorities and available labor resources.
  • Compliance and Accuracy: Ensure all assigned orders are waved and released in accordance with the Company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain inventory and order accuracy.
  • Performance Reporting: Perform an administration function by accurately recording and reporting on daily work achievements, including order release volume, team throughput, and performance against team KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve minor system and order release issues; escalate complex problems to the DC Order Fulfillment Supervisor or IT support as needed.
  • Order Fulfillment Support: Be prepared to perform various warehouse tasks, such as printing labels, preparing shipping documentation, or performing administrative duties, in support of meeting order deadlines.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum one to three years direct warehouse experience in a fast-paced distribution environment where small parcel and LTL/LT customer order processing occurs.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technology: Extensive familiarity with distribution software systems (WMS, ERP, etc.) is highly preferred. Proven experience in a computer-heavy administrative or coordination role within a warehouse environment. Demonstrated aptitude and comfort using distribution software systems, computers, email, and MS Office software programs (especially Excel for data tracking).
  • Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with complex data to ensure orders are assigned correctly and efficiently. High energy level with a focus on successfully achieving daily processing goals and metrics. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding order flow and prioritization. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple order waves and shifting priorities simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:

This role is physically active and requires regular movement throughout the warehouse during the shift.

  • Mobility: Ability to move freely within a warehouse environment.
  • Sitting: Significant periods of sitting and focused time in front of a computer screen are required.
  • Standing and Walking: The role requires standing and walking through the warehouse to coordinate with teams.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Regularly required to lift or move parts and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to warehouse environments with temperature changes, machinery noise, and operational movement.
