Department: Stemilt Ag Services LLC

Reports To: Ranch Manager

Summary:

This individual will be responsible assist the orchard manager to supervise and direct work of Stemilt Ag Service orchard labor employees and ensure a successful harvest by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate direction from orchard managers to the employees

  • Supervise and train orchard labor employees.

  • Discipline employees when needed.

  • Scan employees’ work ID badges to record their shifts worked, as well as bins per employee.

  • Complete appropriate administrative paperwork.

  • Address any attendance issues or call ins with employees.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for any employee concerns or complaints.

  • Enforce Stemilt safety rules and standard operating procedures with employees.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises employees in the orchard who may be performing duties such as picking fruit, climbing ladders, thinning, pruning, and operating machinery such as chain saws, tractors, etc.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • First Aid Certification

  • Valid Driver’s License

Other skills and abilities:

  • Experience in supervising employees in an agricultural setting.

Other qualifications:

  • Possess Cultural awareness and sensitivity

  • Experience in supervising employees in an agricultural setting.

  • Demonstrate work ethics and ability to deal with employees in a positive and courteous manner.
