The Consultant Development Program (CDP) is an Early Careers program for recent college graduates who are interested in developing and deploying problem-solving and presentation skills with health care clients. The Consultant Development Program sits within Optum Advisory and allows for early career professionals to experience a diversity of health care clients through a variety of engagements. CDP participants will work with Advisory Board teams across a variety of functions including research and client services to support top business priorities, while simultaneously receiving mentorship and formal training in key consulting competencies. Program completion includes alignment into a full-time Advisory Board role and typically takes 1.5-2.5 years to complete.


**The full-time position located in Eden Prairie, MN, Nashville, TN or Washington, DC will be available starting in Summer 2026**

Primary Responsibilities:

Custom data analysts deliver on two core data services: delivering custom data extracts to Advisory Board members and assisting members of Advisory Board's upcoming all-payer claims product.

Custom data analysts work with Advisory Board's data and engineering teams to build custom data tables, extract data, and update member data sites. They also partner with Advisory Board researchers and account managers to serve members and draft research-informed communications. Over time, they may also draft research publications based on analytical research, present findings to members, and/or walk through data tools with internal and external audiences.

After product launch in the summer, custom data analysts will also be responsible for building and maintaining member sites for Advisory Board's all-payer claims data, as well as communicating with members about data customization. Roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Scope custom data requests in collaboration with account managers
  • Understand and analyze claims and benchmark data to derive member-specific insights
  • Build custom data tables in AWS Glue and Redshift
  • Extract and clean data for delivery to members
  • Collaborate with peers on quality checks
  • Present data findings to members over email and over video call
  • Communicate with members to guide data submission and manage customization and updates
  • Clean and upload member-submitted data
  • Update member data monthly in all-payer claims product

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree earned within the past 24 months from an accredited college/university; coursework to obtain degree must be completed prior to start of employment and verified within 6-8 weeks following the date at your school
  • Business Acumen and Basic Data Analysis Experience
  • Experience working in Excel (E.g. comfortable using pivot tables and formulas) and SQL
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Experience writing and presenting data findings
  • Ability to work in office on a hybrid schedule (2 days home/3 days in office) in one of our 3 locations (Eden Prairie, MN, Nashville, TN or Washington, DC) for the duration of the program
  • Ability to Travel up to 25% for the Consultant Development Program, dependent on project needs and location
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered) F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position

  • AWS Glue, Quicksight, and/or Redshift Experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
