Optum Dermatology is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. The Medical Assistant will work primarily in our outpatient office setting, where you will engage directly with a diverse patient population. Our clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evenings or weekends required for special events or urgent care needs. • Efficiently manage patient appointments and maintain electronic health records (EHR), ensuring meticulous documentation of all interactions and updates to patient medical histories.
• Welcome patients to the clinic and conduct thorough intake assessments by gathering comprehensive medical histories and preparing them for upcoming examinations and treatments.
• Assist physicians during patient examinations, procedures, and minor surgical interventions, showcasing knowledge of medical instruments and a focus on maintaining a sterile environment.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens accurately, ensuring proper labeling and documentation according to established safety protocols.
• Administer medications, including injections under direct supervision, while adhering to the highest standards of safety and accuracy.
• Perform basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood glucose checks, interpret results, and maintain detailed records for physician review.
• Provide clear and empathetic communication to patients regarding medication schedules, procedural expectations, and general healthcare guidance, empowering them to participate in their health management.
• Conduct routine patient care tasks, including measuring vital signs and documenting health data accurately.
• Manage the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms by sterilizing equipment and maintaining an adequate inventory of medical supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, contributing to coordinated care efforts and comprehensive treatment planning.

Our clinic serves a wide range of patients—spanning various age groups, from pediatrics to adults—seeking treatment for dermatologic issues such as acne, eczema, skin cancer screenings, and cosmetic dermatology. You will engage with patients from diverse backgrounds, providing care that is tailored to individual health needs, reinforcing the importance of personalized treatment strategies.

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) is highly desirable to ensure standardization in the practice.
• Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and medical software for thorough record-keeping and patient management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, essential for building rapport with patients and collaborating with medical teams.
• Able to multitask, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a focus on patient care.
• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to ensuring accuracy in all aspects of patient care and documentation.

• Previous experience in a dermatology practice is a plus, offering insight into specialty care dynamics.
• Familiarity with specific dermatological procedures and relevant medical technologies.
• Experience in patient education and health promotion activities to enhance patient understanding and compliance.

The salary range for this position is between USD 35,000 and 45,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
