Mailroom Clerk - OPS Opportunity

Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a part-time opportunity for the position of Mailroom Clerk - OPS with the Shipping, Receiving, and Mail Department. We are seeking a dedicated professional who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant workplace community.

What You'll Do The Mailroom Clerk – OPS will assist in the efficient handling, sorting, and distribution of mail and packages within the college campus and satellite locations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the receiving, sorting, and distribution of incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments and individuals within the college.
  • Help prepare and dispatch outgoing mail and packages, ensuring accurate labeling and timely delivery.
  • Ability to learn the College's mail processing systems and equipment, which include, but are not limited to Workday, Purchasing Procedures and basic accounting practices.
  • Assist keeping records of incoming and outgoing packages, including tracking and filing.
  • Help respond to inquiries from faculty and staff regarding mail services and package whereabouts.
  • Ensure the mailroom is organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Assist with the coordination with external postal services and courier companies for special mail handling needs.

Work schedule: 25 hours per week; Monday - Friday.

Who We're Looking For We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a mailroom or similar logistical/support role is preferred.
  • Forklift experience is preferred
  • Proficient in basic computer applications like email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver packages weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Capable of performing repetitive tasks such as lifting, sorting, and carrying.
