Machine Operator - 2nd Shift
Shift: Monday - Friday 2:30PM - 10:00PM
Pay: $20.05/hr.
As a Machine Operator at Pratt Industries - Houston, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks, including machine setup, operation, cleanup, and troubleshooting, with a focus on meeting customer demand and maintaining high-quality standards. Key Duties and Success Factors:

  • Quality Assurance: Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Pratt's quality procedures to ensure only top-quality products are delivered to customers. Prevent defective products by addressing issues during production.
  • Operational Efficiency: Maximize machine utilization by running equipment at optimal capacity and speed. Continuously improve setup times, minimize downtime, and identify maintenance needs to improve overall production efficiency.
  • Training & Development: Assist in training new team members, including Assistant Machine Operators and Production Utilities. Cross-train on various machines and positions to support plant operations and personal growth.
  • Reporting & Maintenance: Complete daily reports on production data, machine status, safety, and quality. Actively submit maintenance requests for necessary machine repairs and perform proactive housekeeping.
  • Flexibility & Teamwork: Adapt to changing production needs, including overtime or holiday work, and collaborate with team members to meet shifting goals.

**Additional duties may be assigned by management.**
What You'll Need to be Successful:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Preferred candidates will have prior experience in manufacturing, especially in the packaging, paper, or plastics industries. A minimum of 6 months' experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read and follow instructions related to safety, quality, and job procedures.
    • Strong mathematical skills for calculations such as percentages, volume, and measurements.
    • Mechanical understanding to identify equipment issues and improve machine performance.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform various tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Certifications: Lift Truck Operator License may be required.
