Job description

About GAINS
GAINS is on a mission to make supply chains smarter, faster, and self-improving, powered by AI. Our Decision Engineering & Orchestration (DEO) platform doesn't just support decisions, it drives them by aligning strategy, planning, and execution across every level of the supply chain. We serve inventory-intensive industries where the stakes are high and the complexity is real, helping customers move from reactive, spreadsheet-driven planning to continuously learning, AI-led operations that deliver measurable results fast. At GAINS, we call it Moving Forward Faster, and it's not a tagline, it's how we're redefining what's possible in supply chain decision-making.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Operations Research Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in operations research, mathematical modeling, and optimization techniques to design and implement solutions that enhance the efficiency and performance of our supply chain software products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and product managers, to deliver impactful solutions that drive value for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Model Development: Develop, validate, and maintain mathematical models and algorithms for optimizing supply chain operations, including inventory management, demand forecasting, production planning, and logistics.
  • Optimization & Simulation: Design and implement optimization and simulation tools to solve complex supply chain problems, ensuring that solutions are scalable and efficient.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement within supply chain processes. Use statistical and machine learning techniques to enhance model accuracy.
  • Software Integration: Collaborate with software developers to integrate models and algorithms into our supply chain software platform, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
  • Customer Support: Work with the customer support team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to optimization models and algorithms used by our clients.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest advancements in operations research, optimization, and supply chain management. Propose and implement improvements to existing models and processes.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation for models, algorithms, and software modules, ensuring that they are well-documented and easy to understand for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in project teams, ensuring that deliverables are met on time and within scope.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in operations research, optimization, or a related role, preferably within the supply chain or logistics domain.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in mathematical modeling and optimization techniques (e.g., linear programming, integer programming, stochastic modeling).
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
    • Experience with optimization solvers (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX) and simulation tools.
    • Familiarity with supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to analyze complex systems and datasets.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with machine learning techniques applied to supply chain problems.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies.
  • Experience in the software development lifecycle, including version control and agile methodologies.
We are committed to equal employment opportunity and welcome everyone regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, domestic partner status, veteran status or medical condition. We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
