Essential Job Functions
  1. Always maintain a valid driver's license and an "acceptable" driving record and be responsible for driving Center vans or other vehicles. Report all traffic citations to the personnel office immediately and in writing.
  2. Driving Center vehicles is strictly prohibited for anyone under the age of 21.
  3. Meet personal care needs of each resident including toileting, skin care, bathing, feeding, etc.
  4. Provide quality supervision and interaction with residents.
  5. Become Medication Certified and give medications as needed.
  6. Assist with nursing procedures and treatments as indicated or assigned.
  7. Assisting and accompanying residents on field trips and other recreational activities.
  8. Provide and participate in routine and assigned housekeeping duties and to keep the residential area and other training areas neat, clean, and safe.
  9. Participate, provide, and assist with any programmatic and habilitative services and instructional programs as designated, including grocery shopping and meal preparation. Complete and submit maintenance requests to manager for problem items.
  10. Serve as "charge" technician if assigned.
  11. Attend staff meetings.
  12. Keeping abreast of all necessary safety and precautionary measures to ensure the well-being and safety of the residents.
  13. Filling out accident/incident reports immediately following an incident, according to expectations.
  14. Participate in all in-service trainings as required.
  15. Assess resident needs at least annually or as indicated.
  16. Complete all CAP documentation (currently Residential and Day support services) according to expectations in a timely manner.
  17. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team as required.
  18. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
  19. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Education/Experience
High School Graduate or GED Certificate required. Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Recruitment Standards
  1. Relate well with residents, family members, and CAP Case Manager.
  2. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with families and staff at the residential program and the Center.
  3. Learn established techniques and procedures related to the residential program.
  4. Pass basic medication administration that includes bedside nursing skills and training techniques.
  5. Demonstrate safe, responsible, and productive work with minimal supervision.
  6. Adequately follow oral and written instructions in performing paraprofessional, technical and therapeutic health care tasks.
  7. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
  8. Must have valid North Carolina driver's license and be insurable by the Center's liability insurance carrier.
  9. Must be at least 21 years of age.
