Position Summary

Bethel Baptist Church is seeking a spiritually mature, elder-qualified pastor to serve as our

Associate Pastor of Ministry Operations.

This role combines pastoral ministry, organizational leadership, financial stewardship, and staff

development in support of Bethel’s mission of making and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ for

the glory of God.

Working closely with the Lead Pastor, fellow pastors, deacons, and ministry directors, the

Associate Pastor of Ministry Operations helps ensure that the ministries, people, systems,

finances, and resources of the church are aligned around the church’s mission and priorities. He

serves as a pastoral leader who strengthens ministry effectiveness by providing oversight of

operations, financial stewardship, staff coordination, and strategic planning.

We are seeking a pastor who can faithfully shepherd people while wisely stewarding the systems,

staff, finances, and resources that support the ministry of the church.

Associate Pastor of Ministry Operations will work cooperatively with school leadership in

matters involving shared facilities, budgeting, strategic planning, and ministry coordination.

Primary Responsibilities


Pastoral Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the pastoral leadership team.
  • Assist in shepherding, discipleship, counseling, visitation, and member care.
  • Participate in membership interviews, leadership development, and church discipline processes as needed.
  • Teach and preach periodically as assigned.
  • Model godly leadership consistent with the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
  • Help strengthen the spiritual health and unity of the church family.


Ministry Operations Leadership

  • Provide leadership for the operational systems that support the ministries of the church.
  • Coordinate ministry planning, communication, and execution across ministry departments.
  • Develop and maintain organizational systems that reduce confusion and improve ministry effectiveness.
  • Ensure ministries operate with clear expectations, effective processes, and healthy communication.
  • Facilitate collaboration among pastors, deacons, ministry directors, staff, and volunteer leaders.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor in translating ministry vision into practical execution.


Financial Stewardship and Organizational Leadership

  • Assist in the development, oversight, and long-range planning of the annual budgets for both Bethel Baptist Church and Schaumburg Christian School.
  • Work closely with church leadership, finance personnel, and accounting partners to ensure sound financial stewardship.
  • Monitor ministry spending and assist ministry leaders in managing approved budgets.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations that support wise ministry decisions.
  • Assist in long-range financial planning and strategic resource allocation.
  • Evaluate major expenditures, contracts, and operational initiatives.
  • Help ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the church and its ministries.
  • Promote a culture of wise stewardship throughout the church.


Staff Leadership and Ministry Coordination

  • Assist the Lead Pastor in cultivating a healthy, unified, and mission-focused staff culture.
  • Provide leadership, encouragement, and accountability to ministry directors and support
  • staff.
  • Lead regular ministry coordination meetings and planning initiatives.
  • Strengthen communication and cooperation among ministry departments.
  • Help ministry leaders develop strategic plans and ministry goals.
  • Encourage collaboration that advances the church’s overall mission.


Operational Ministry Oversight

Provide leadership oversight for operational ministries that support the life and ministry of the

church, including:

  • Guest Services and Hospitality
  • Assimilation and Newcomer Follow-Up
  • Safety and Security
  • Administrative Office Operations
  • Facilities Coordination
  • Information Technology and Technical Systems


Leadership Development

  • Identify and develop emerging leaders within the church.
  • Encourage the development of volunteer leaders and ministry coordinators.
  • Assist in training future ministry leaders and prospective elders.
  • Help strengthen the church’s long-term leadership pipeline.
  • Promote a culture of servant leadership throughout the church.
Requirements:
  • Meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
  • Demonstrates a growing walk with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
  • Fully affirms Bethel Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith, Church Covenant, and Bylaws.
  • Possesses strong leadership, organizational, and relational abilities.
  • Demonstrates wisdom, humility, emotional maturity, and sound judgment.
  • Committed to the sufficiency of Scripture and the practice of biblical counseling.
  • Able to work effectively with staff, volunteers, church leaders, and congregants.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in pastoral leadership, church administration, executive leadership or a comparable ministry role.
  • Demonstrated competency in budgeting, financial oversight, organizational planning, and resource stewardship.
  • Experience overseeing complex ministry or nonprofit budgets.
  • Formal theological education (seminary degree preferred).
  • Experience leading teams, developing leaders, and implementing ministry systems.
  • Familiarity with church management software and ministry planning tools.

Reporting Relationship

The Associate Pastor of Ministry Operations reports directly to the Lead Pastor and serves

alongside the pastoral team in advancing the mission and ministry of Bethel Baptist Church.
