Job description

LNG Operations Supervisor – Commissioning & Startup

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced LNG Operations Supervisor to support the commissioning, startup, and initial operations of a new LNG export facility. This role will provide operational leadership during the transition from construction completion through safe and reliable LNG production.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating LNG facilities, supporting commissioning and startup activities, and working with APCI C3MR liquefaction technology or similar LNG processes. This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing operational readiness, leading shift teams, and establishing a strong safety and performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead LNG operations activities during commissioning, startup, and initial production, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical direction to Operations Shift Teams while ensuring personnel training, competency, and operational readiness.
  • Take ownership of startup, shutdown, and continuous operation activities across liquefaction, gas treatment, utilities, LNG storage, and loading systems.
  • Serve as the primary on-shift operational decision-maker, troubleshooting process issues, managing abnormal conditions, and supporting emergency response activities.
  • Coordinate closely with Commissioning, Construction, Engineering, Maintenance, Automation, HSE, and vendor teams to achieve startup milestones and resolve operational challenges.
  • Monitor and optimize plant performance through DCS systems and field operations while maintaining safe operating limits and process requirements.
  • Support CSU activities including equipment turnover, system walkdowns, startup testing, operational readiness reviews, and procedure validation.
  • Maintain strong process safety discipline by enforcing operating procedures, Permit to Work systems, risk assessments, and safety standards.
  • Analyze operating data, identify improvement opportunities, troubleshoot plant issues, and drive continuous operational excellence.
  • Support development of operating procedures, training programs, shift documentation, and long-term operational practices for the LNG facility.

Preferred Qualification

  • 5+ years of LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or complex process facility operations experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within an LNG facility or large-scale industrial operation.
  • Hands-on experience with LNG liquefaction processes, preferably APCI C3MR technology.
  • Experience supporting LNG commissioning, startup, and transition into commercial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of process safety, DCS operations, troubleshooting, and operational discipline.
  • Ability to make critical operational decisions in high-pressure startup environments.
  • Greenfield LNG startup experience.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, technology licensors, and equipment vendors.
