Operations Manager
Department: Operations
Reports to: Sr. Director of Operations
FLSA status: Exempt
Job Summary: Primary responsibilities for the Operations Manager are to coordinate and direct the daily activities in production manufacturing to meet performance targets across all metrics, including safety, quality, productivity, and throughput.? Area Managers will take daily direction from the Operations Manager interacting in all aspects of card production.? Other duties include coordination with other departments to satisfy customer needs for product and resolution of defective product issues.
This is a high exposure role with the opportunity to achieve dramatic operational improvement. The Operations Manager will have total scope of responsibility for the operations organization across all shifts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create a culture of employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and problem-solving.
  • Meet and exceed site targets for safety, product quality, customer delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Continuously streamline processes and practices to achieve improved performance.
  • Manage and coordinate activities across operational areas including but not limited toscheduling, press, card manufacturing and personalization.
  • Leverage Monarch, PLI's ERP system, to increase effectiveness.
  • Understand and manage immediate and long horizon production capacity constraints across all operational areas.
  • Coordinate activities with maintenance to complete required machine maintenance and repair.
  • Address issues concerning quality or functionality of product as it is being produced and inspected.
  • Track and review waste from production process to ensure efficient material use.
  • Count raw material and work-in progress for month end inventory as needed.
  • Complete basic human resource duties such as vacation approval and employee evaluations.
  • Facilitate daily Production meetings.
  • Coordinate and drive the KPI process, meetings, and reporting.
  • Champion the Safety Observation program.
  • Champion the Quality Observation and Lead Team audit Program.
  • Fill in for Director of Plant Operations in his/her absence.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Successful implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5S
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience operating with ERP systems
  • Manufacturing background required; printing and finishing industry expertise preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience with teams of 50 or more required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or a related technical field preferred
