Job Summary: The Controller performs a wide variety of accounting oversight duties which includes managing financial reporting, overseeing accounting processes, and internal controls. The Controller will also prepare budgets, forecasts, scorecards, and other data analyses critical to the operational management of the Company.

Job Duties & Requirements:

Accounting
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems; ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and related bank financing agreements. Develop and/or improve internal controls as necessary.
  • Review recorded business transactions, correct as necessary, and prepare internal financial statements
  • Prepare financial budgets by gathering information from department managers, analyze the data, and summarize it for Senior Management. Monitor spending against approved budgets.
  • Oversee the annual year end close, third-party audit process, and external financial reporting.
  • Develop and monitor financial metrics for the Company. Assist operational managers in understanding and utilizing the metrics (scorecards, dashboards, etc.)

Taxes
  • Provide required information and coordinate the preparation of income tax returns by tax accountants
  • Review returns and provide oversight as necessary on any other tax types - sales, gravel, unemployment, etc.
  • Assist with the resolution of tax authority notices

Cash Management
  • Monitor cash balances, project short and long term cash needs, and participate with CFO in acquiring bank financing (credit lines and capital financing)
  • Ensure that the Company is fully utilizing cash management security tools and follow up on any potential fraud situations

Information Systems
  • Develop expertise in the Company's Enterprise Resource Program (ERP). Support staff that utilize the system, research and implement new features, and assist operational employees in utilization of the system.
  • Participate in the research and understanding of other information systems being used by the Company (B2W, Manager's Plus, Share Point, etc.) and assist in the improved integration of these systems.

Operational Support
  • Partner with Company Operational Managers to understand their business functions and how data analytics can enhance the performance of their business function
  • Utilizing information technology, develop scorecards that will facilitate the identification of activities that are on or off track
  • Partner with Project Estimators to assist them in understanding project accounting and the proper recording of job profits (WIP)

Other
  • Supervise the Company's Accounting staff
  • Special Projects as assigned by Company leadership
