Job description

Pre-owned Operations Assistant

Department: Sales

Reports to: Used Car Manager

Wage Range: $18.00-$20.00

Job Summary

To support the Used Car Manager in maximizing the performance, profitability, and efficiency of the pre-owned department by ensuring inventory is market-ready, and every customer experience meets RMC standards.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Back up UCM on recon: approve recon, prioritize order, keep process moving in absence, carry out reconditioning plans
  • Stock in cars: Assign stock number, create folder, tags, stock in upon arrival
  • Auction arbitration and check-in: Verify condition reports, 2nd keys, tire tread depth, damage
  • Assign transportation
  • Complete online merchandising: Comments and add service notes while auditing service RO’s
  • Maintain vehicle sold log: Verify charges against stock numbers, look for errors, collect data
  • Assist wholesale: verify vehicle location, verify key location
  • Lot displays: show floor cars, lot walks, hangtags, cars in wrong place
  • Assist UCM in absence and days off
  • Physical inventory
  • Additional recon needed: Dead batteries, smoke smells, windshields, re cleans, paint and body, verifying sales consultant concerns as directed by UCM
  • Transport vehicles: In and around Rochester, both inside and outside of RMC
  • Planning
  • Maintain lot displays to include show floor vehicles
  • Complete various administrative tasks as directed by Sales Manager
  • Adhere to a daily schedule to complete all tasks within the day
  • Assist with executing a plan for pre-owned inventory units
  • Assist in transporting vehicles to reconditioning facilities in and around Rochester
  • Marketing/Sales
  • Assist in arranging used vehicle displays to keep up with inventory and what’s currently in demand
  • Review and complete online merchandising as necessary
  • Verify proper marketing for inventory, both physically and digitally
  • Quality
  • Supervise the maintenance of the vehicle appearance process and the used vehicle lot display
  • Assist the Used Car Manager with the reconditioning process and approving reconditioning as directed
  • Complete lots of walks as necessary to ensure the quality standard is achieved
  • Verify Sales Consultant concerns and expedite solutions as directed by Sales Manager
  • Inspect arrived auction purchases to ensure accuracy to condition report
  • Communication
  • Attend/conduct group training meetings in the dealership as required
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of accurate department records
  • Assist and maintain an accurate log of vehicles currently off lot and needing specific repairs
  • Ensure strong communication between stores within the group relating to in-house transfers and repair plans
  • Ensure strong communication between departments whenever possible
  • Execute reconditioning plans for individual units as directed by Sales Manager
  • Professionalism/Integrity
  • Facilitate an environment of integrity by following appropriate hiring procedures
  • Assist in keeping current on used vehicle market trends, competitive activities, and pricing
  • Participate in continuing education and training activities
  • Maintain ethical work standards in all tasks
