Job description

This is a 10-month position
UMD Dining Services provides diverse and high-quality dining options across campus, including Superior Dining, our all-you-care-to-eat residential dining center, and a Food Court with five unique concepts-Subs & Wraps, Burgers, Pizza, Burritos, and Grab & Go. We also operate Northern Shores Coffee Shop, two dining kiosks, and a full-service restaurant, along with catering services for campus events. Dining Services focuses on providing diverse food options, sustainability efforts, and quality service to the campus community.
Job Duties:
  • Ensure a high-quality dining experience for the campus community by upholding standards in food quality, sanitation, and service. (10%)
  • Coordinate daily staffing for high-volume, complex operational processes. (10%)
  • Oversee guest experience and uphold standards through coaching and training. (10%)
  • Observe and report guest trends to improve team performance. (10%)
  • Oversee inventory levels and manage product orders with accuracy and timeliness. (10%)
  • Train and mentor team to meet objectives, fostering skill development to strengthen both individual performance and team cohesion. (10%)
  • Innovate and refine processes and operational efficiencies to elevate guest experience. (10%)
  • Implement performance management practices and administer corrective actions as needed to maintain accountability and support team excellence. (10%)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal and written communication to effectively engage with team and management at all levels. (10%)

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS plus at least four years of experience, or combination of related education and experience to equal at least 8 years

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years in supervisory or management role related to food service or guest experience
  • Proficient in food management software (i.e., ordering and inventory management)
  • Proficient in Google Suite (e.g. docs, sheets)

Preferred Skills
  • Proficient in verbal communication, written communication, and accurate record keeping
  • Proficient at multitasking while organizing, planning, and prioritizing work
  • Ability to think creatively and critically
  • Comfortable and proficient coaching team members, and engaging with guests

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment (10-months per year)
