About the Role

We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Operations Manager to lead our laboratory operations. Reporting directly to the President, this role is responsible for overseeing all operational activities, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and accreditation standards, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a strong operational mindset, capable of optimizing performance, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all laboratory operations, including purchasing and facility management
  • Plan, organize, and monitor activities to ensure optimal performance and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and accreditation requirements

Strategy & Performance

  • Develop and execute operational plans aligned with corporate strategy
  • Establish measurable objectives to drive sustained performance and operational flexibility
  • Monitor performance indicators and implement improvement initiatives

Financial Management

  • Develop, manage, and control departmental operating budgets
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Lead LEAN initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and quality
  • Support organizational change initiatives across departments

Systems & Technology

  • Champion the effective use and ongoing development of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Ensure systems are leveraged to improve workflows, reporting, and performance

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Develop, coach, and mentor first-line managers and supervisors
  • Foster a culture of transparency, respect, and teamwork

Quality, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices
  • Participate in the development of annual service and growth plans
  • Prepare and present operational performance reports to senior leadership
  • Support documentation standardization and process compliance initiatives

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction (internal and external)

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a laboratory or regulated environment
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Experience managing budgets and driving financial performance
  • Knowledge of quality systems, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement practices
  • Experience with LIMS or similar systems is an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
