Based in the greater Phoenix area, and due to continued growth, our client seeks a Controller who will handle all cycles of accounting for their award-winning design firm.

Reporting to the company's partners, this financial Controller will be required to work on location in their beautiful Mesa office. We seek a collaborative team player with strong intellectual skills and a great attention to detail. This individual will be professional, extremely organized, and a dependable member to their growing team. Due to the nature of our client's business, we seek candidates coming from construction or design industry.

As the Controller you will:

  • Manage implementation of new accounting processes and make suggestions regarding process improvements and implementation of new systems
  • Oversee 2 people in the department
  • Coordinate operational and project budgets, weekly forecasts and analyze variances against budget and prior month's forecast
  • Analyze current accounting system and determination of how to proceed to accomplish goals
  • Profit margin analysis for overall company on regular basis and for jobs at closing
  • Reconcile job cost and general ledger accounts
  • Ongoing maintenance of the Work-In-Process ("WIP") schedule and resolving job billings
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Forecast cost analysis
  • Develop expense budgets
  • Reconcile balance sheet and income accounts
  • Assist in preparation of income tax returns
  • Communicate ways to cut costs and reduce overages
  • Monitor cash flow of the construction entities
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's of Accounting
  • CPA and/or Master's preferred
  • 5 years accounting experience in residential construction, design, building
  • Comfort working with various technologies
