Job description

Operating Room Technician, Wilson Place Operating Room (OR)    

We are hiring Operating Room Technicians in our Operating Room (OR) at Wilson Place Operating Room located at UHS Ambulatory Surgery Center at Wilson Place 52 Harrison Street   
Johnson City, NY 13790   

The Operating Room Technician in this Operating Room (OR) unit protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families.  

Position Overview 

Provides personal care and health teaching under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to meet the needs of patient and family, consistent with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Division and United Health Services Hospitals. Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintains asepsis, anticipates, and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff.

Position Requirements 

Education/Experience 

Minimum Required: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent 

Preferred: 

  • Previous Operating Room experience 

  • Previous Surgical Technologist experience 

License/Certification 

Minimum Required: 

  • Meets the NYS Surgical Technologist Certification Law; OR Completed a Surgical Technologist program in the Armed Forces; OR Completed a nationally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist with a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist credential 

  • CPR Certification within 3 months of hire
