SUMMARY: The Machine Operator is responsible for reconditioning tooling to manufacturer or customer specifications, at an affordable cost savings, and understanding each customer job application to ensure tools are made correctly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Personally exhibits, recruits and coaches associates consistent with Core Behaviors
  • Responsible for promoting culture of safety
  • Sort tooling
  • Set up the machine
  • Prep and set up jobs to be run for each application
  • Grind tooling according to tool specs
  • Clean/inspect machinery and tools.
  • Prepare dip or tube tooling for delivery
  • Inspect jobs after final operation
  • Ship parts per customer specification
  • Respond to commonly occurring problems/situations for which standards, procedures or precedents exist
  • Perform hands-on tasks, primarily using trade or computer hardware and software skills
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with ISO

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of material and tooling types in catalogue
  • Working knowledge of grinding machines and their capabilities, #2 Cincinnati, ANCA & Walter grinders
  • Knowledge of what the tool is and how it is used
  • Ability to look for bad grinds or chips in the tool by using eye loupes and magnifiers
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge and ability to use micrometers, Digital Calipers, Vernier, radius gages
  • Understanding of what wheel to use for each job
  • Competent with applying math skills/tool geometry
  • Ability to operate a forklift

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a similar position preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • None required
  • CNC certificate preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Good working conditions. Environment may be slightly dirty or involve occasional exposure to elements. Work is generally performed during traditional working hours; regular day hours Monday through Friday; although there may be some changes to work schedule to include some weekends or evenings.
  • Employee is regularly required to speak and hear English, stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to use computer and other equipment.
  • Employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to _50_ pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.

PPE REQUIRED:

  • Eye protection, ear protection, and as required by customer, steel-toed shoes and head protection.
