Overview and Purpose of the Role

We are currently seeking a full-time Operating Room Registered Practical Nurses to join our dynamic perioperative team.

As an Operating Room Registered Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. Working alongside a skilled and supportive interdisciplinary team, you will help guide patients safely and compassionately through every stage of their surgical journey.

In this fast-paced and rewarding environment, your clinical expertise, teamwork, and commitment to excellence will directly contribute to positive patient outcomes and an outstanding surgical experience.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate as a key member of the surgical team, performing both scrub and circulating duties in accordance with ORNAC standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote clear communication and seamless coordination of patient care.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement by supporting additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Program
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Operating Room Certificate (or equivalent recent experience) required
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent operating room experience preferred
  • Knowledge of ORNAC Standards of Practice
  • Demonstrated competence in orthopaedic surgeries, including total joint replacement, considered an asset
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-stress environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, patients, and visitors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Ability to provide proof of immunization status and tuberculosis (TB) records
