Job Description

Florida National University contributes to the education of a diverse student body within the community it serves. FNU employs and develops a faculty of scholars proficient in the art of teaching. We strive to prepare students for employment in their chosen careers through quality education and instruction.

Major Responsibilities: The Blackboard Student Support will provide routine technical support and assistance to students, faculty members, and other staff with online courses in Blackboard with other web-based instructional material in support of the Distance Learning Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication Management: Respond promptly to daily communications via email and voicemail, addressing inquiries promptly and professionally.
  2. Policy Adherence and Ethical Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to the University's mission, policies, procedures, ethical standards, compliance with data protection regulations and pertinent legal regulations in all aspects of admission activities.
  3. University Engagement: Participate in Commencement Exercises, new student orientation, university events, committees, self-studies, and University Commencement Ceremonies.
  4. Special Projects: Execute special projects assigned by the President or supervisor.
  5. Compliance Adherence: Ensure compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, as well as FNU Policies, Procedures, Rules and Regulation, the FNU Code of Ethics, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Florida Information Protection Act of 2014 (FIPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and all other applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  6. Assigned Duties: Undertake other assigned duties as required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Knowledge of any learning management systems such as Blackboard.
  1. Knowledge of computer software applications such Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word processing.
  2. Knowledge of basic techniques used to troubleshoot routine computer application malfunctions.
  3. Customer service techniques for contact in person, on the telephone, and written communications
  4. Effectively utilize computer equipment and software in the performance of duties
  5. Work independently on assigned tasks.
  6. Train new students in the use of Blackboard.
  7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, and students.
  1. Give clear and concise instructions.
  2. Learn the characteristics of new computer systems, software, and hardware and update technical skills to adapt to changing technology.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
  • Technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Able to adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with students and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Computer skills as required for the position.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment.

Schedule:

Monday to Thursday

  • Monday - Thursday: 2 days from 8:00am to 5:00pm and 2 days from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
  • *Fridays alternate (campus closes at 7pm) (8:00am to 5:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm)
