Job description

Medical Receptionist — Front Desk (Part-Time)
Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents  |  205 Sage Road, Ste 100, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Employment Type: Part-Time
Location: Onsite — Chapel Hill, NC
Pay: $18–$21/hour, based on experience

Why Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents?
Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents is a busy pediatric practice serving families in Chapel Hill, NC. We foster a "more than medicine" approach with our families — our goal is to give exceptional care while providing a caring environment. Learn more at chapelhillpeds.com.
Why This Role?
We're looking for a warm, organized Medical Receptionist to join our front desk team on a part-time basis (Mon / Wed / Fri, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM). This is a fast-paced, high-volume role — our practice sees an average of 480 patients a day — supporting a pediatric and adolescent patient population. You'll be the first friendly face our families see and a key part of keeping our front office running smoothly. We use Veradigm (Allscripts) and Phreesia for scheduling and records. In this role, you will:
  • Welcome patients and families with a friendly, compassionate demeanor and monitor the lobby to keep wait times in check
  • Manage appointment scheduling by phone, in person, EHR, and online requests, coordinating with the physician's scheduler
  • Make reminder calls for unconfirmed, pre-scheduled appointments
  • Process patient check-in and check-out, verifying and updating information and ensuring required forms are complete
  • Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, providing information and routing calls as needed
  • Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant patient records in the practice management and EMR systems
  • Verify insurance coverage and inform patients of co-pays, out-of-pocket costs, or balances due
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and handle billing inquiries
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff
  • Support general office needs — filing, faxing, scanning to the EHR, mail, and supply tracking
This is a part-time position with a fixed schedule as listed above. We're looking for candidates specifically seeking part-time hours — this role is not intended to lead to full-time employment.
Why You?
You're a great fit if you have:
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Friendly, patient, calm, and compassionate demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
It's a bonus if you also have:
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking)
  • Experience with Veradigm (Allscripts)
  • Experience in a pediatric practice
  • Experience as the initial point of contact for a high volume of patients
Equal Opportunity Employer
Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
