Job description

General Information This is public safety work that involves providing for the care and security of inmates confined within a correctional facility or jail. Jurisdiction Yearly Rate Mobile County $48,091 - $76,882 Applicants must pass an examination in order to qualify for this position. Details regarding the examination will be emailed to candidates who meet the requirements set out below.

Requirements Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and preferably some police or corrections related experience or training; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements. Special Requirements Must be at least 19 years of age and must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. Mobile County Sheriff's Department requires successful completion of a physical agility test administered by the Sheriff's Department.
