Medical Lab Manager of Anatomic Pathology

We are seeking a Medical Lab Manager of Anatomic Pathology to join IQVIA Laboratories at Valencia, CA. Job Summary:

Lead and develop a laboratory team while overseeing day-to-day testing operations in a regulated clinical laboratory environment to ensure quality, compliance, and operational efficiency. This is an office-based role with a Monday–Friday schedule and a flexible start time of 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM, with corresponding end times of 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Manage daily activities of assigned laboratory work group(s) through delegation, training, and supervision
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign workload, tasks, and projects to support effective laboratory operations
  • Coach, develop, and evaluate laboratory staff while supporting hiring, training, and performance management
  • Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex laboratory challenges, and implement effective resolutions
  • Lead quality, safety, CAPA, and compliance activities to ensure department standards are met
  • Monitor operational metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency
  • Support procedure development, regulatory updates, and implementation of new tests, equipment, and processes
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a BSc in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or cytotechnology.)
  • Typically requires >5 years' experience in regulated environment; >4 years of experience in a regulated laboratory; >2 years line management experience
  • In depth knowledge of lab testing procedures and applicable laboratory testing regulations
  • Practical experience in the lab required, preferably in Atomic Pathology
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and in depth knowledge of company-specific program requirements
  • Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data while making sound operational decisions
  • Effective supervision, coaching, and work prioritization skills in a regulated laboratory setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients
  • Strong understanding of operations and methods, including study setup and cross-functional/system dependencies
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
