Process Engineer – Glass Machining Center

Onsite or Hybrid – Bellows Falls, VT

We're looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing team, where you'll develop and optimize glass machining processes including blocking, coring, milling, dicing, chamfering, and pick-and-place. Experience with diamond turning or semiconductor wafer singulation is a strong plus!

Job Summary/Objective:

Supporting our Glass Machining Center, the Process Engineer develops and leads improvement projects to increase yields and efficiencies in the manufacturing process. They foster a collaborative environment and use a methodical scientific approach coupled with their creativity to solve technical challenges.


Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to engineering projects, serving as a project leader (set priorities, organize resources, maintain timelines and budgets) as needed
  • Analyze defects and failures to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Design and perform experiments to support continual improvement of product quality, process reliability, and process efficiency
  • Perform risk assessment of process changes
  • Assure appropriate documentation pertaining to process changes and qualification of new systems, tools, and processes occur
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training guidelines
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff in standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with manufacturing staff and the rest of Chroma’s Engineering team to expand and improve product offerings
  • Assist in the development of new analysis capabilities – including those outsourced


Required Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications:

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in thin film manufacturing processes
  • BS in a science related field, such as Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering
  • A proven track record of leading process improvements in a manufacturing environment
  • Expertise in the scientific method and designing controlled experiments
  • Experience in statistical and quantitative analysis
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing and Statistical Process Control


Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range $60,000 - $85,000
