Job description

Edwards, Inc. is a full-service industrial general contractor providing constriction, fabrication, and crane services. We are currently seeking an Electrical Estimator to work out of our Spring Hope, NC office.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for:

  • All aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, value engineering, and subcontractor bidding.
  • Preparing project proposals and cost estimates for a wide range of industrial projects with a focus on industrial electrical work. Ensure that proposals meet company financial goals and that contractual requirements of the project are acceptable.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with customers and assemble and document information required to evaluate and estimate specific projects.
  • Communicating and coordinating with client representatives, other intercompany departments, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in evaluation of bid opportunities for potential work.
  • Study contract documents and prepare data concerning a project from plans, specifications, and jobsite visits. Including quantities of materials, labor man-hours and equipment requirements. This data will be used to assemble the estimate for the project.
  • Bid Document Analysis and preparation of estimates and proposals.
  • Plan construction methods and procedures and develop schedules as required to estimate projects.
  • Identify any unique quality control or safety requirements for incorporation into estimates.
  • Preparing requisitions for purchase of materials in specific projects.
  • Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
  • Negotiating contracts and change orders with owners and subcontractors.
  • Develop and follow up on all work prospects/inquiries in a timely manner and promptly seek assistance from the Estimating Manager when required.
  • Coordinating with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
  • Perform all other additional assignments.

Ideal Candidates Should Have:

Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to:

  • Continually walk/stand on surfaces which may be even/uneven, stable/unstable, and varying compositions.
  • Work in awkward spaces and/or positions including confined spaces and climbing.
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Essential Requirements & Skills:

  • Requirements
    • Minimum of 2-3 years estimating and negotiating industrial projects.
    • Knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
    • HS Diploma or Equivalent
    • Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
    • Excellent communication skills and commitment to safety.
  • Additional Skills
    • Ability to read drawings/sketches.
    • Familiarity with estimating and scheduling software.
    • Computer Skills - Microsoft Word and Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore are a plus.
