The Department of Fine, Digital, and Performing Arts invites applications for all semesters for part-time adjunct teaching positions. These are semester-to-semester positions primarily teaching introductory sections of the following areas, both in person and online.

The Department of Fine, Digital, and Performing Arts at Shawnee State is an incubator for creativity.
Majors, Minors, and GEP courses in the arts enable students to cultivate and expand their skills across several arts disciplines. The department faculty
value technical skill, aesthetic dialogue, professionalism, open individual expression, and reasoned critique.

Adjunct faculty at SSU are also eligible for tuition waivers (TuitionWaiver for Adjunct Faculty Policy) and enjoy professional development opportunities, office space, and limited mileage reimbursement. They and their family (children 14 years and up) also have free access to the Rhodes Athletic Facility. Employment with the University is dependent upon BOT budget approval for the current fiscal year. A background check is required prior to hire.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE)
  1. Master's Degree in the subject or closely related area
  2. A willingness to engage students thoughtfully and critically in the subject area
  3. Ability to communicate clearly to students
  4. Basic knowledge of instructional software and ability to teach online courses
  5. Ability to work closely and effectively with diverse populations in all aspects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
  1. Knowledge of different pedagogical strategies
  2. Prior teaching experience both in person and online
  3. MFA or PhD in the area being taught or closely related area
