Job description

Virtual Teacher's Aide

Position Summary:
This is a position to support virtual learning assignments and activities for pre-school or school-aged students.

Office Location: This job will work out of the Edinboro office but servicing students virtually. This is not a remote (work from home) position.

Current hours: Monday-Friday 9:45am – 2:30pm

Please Note: *Aide positions can be from 10-29.5 hours per week and can fluctuate based upon student attendance/needs.*

School Year: 2026-2027

Hourly Rate: Aide I- $21.50/hour Aide II- $21.66/hour

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrable proficiency in computer skills including the ability to work with multiple types of devices, peripheral accessories and software programs (i.e., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).  Successful candidate will be evaluated through a live assessment to ensure proficiency as a requirement of the position.

Desired Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree
- Experience in an educational setting

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supervise children virtually and ensure student safety by following all health and safety guidelines;
- Assist the classroom teacher to include the students in all aspects of the school day
  - Implement academic and social programming and strategies as developed by the team
  - Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined on the IEP and developed by the team.
  - Implement behavior plans as developed by the team.
- Assist students with:
   - logging on to remote classes;
   - engaging with their teachers and fellow classmates virtually;
   - adhering to their individual remote learning schedules;
   - troubleshooting hardware or connectivity issues;
- Partner with parents and remote teachers to understand each child's needs in a remote environment;
- Perform administrative, record keeping, and instructional support duties as required by the teacher or support professional.
- Carry out instructional, technical, behavioral, or therapeutic activities as prescribed and supervised by the teacher or support professional.
- Serve as a positive adult role model for children in the program through appropriate dress, speech and attitude;
- Participate in staff meetings and training as needed;
- Maintain highest degree of confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned

Performance Factors/Job Competencies:
- Strong technology skills for supporting the use of online educational tools and applications;
- Written language, technology skill, and interpersonal communication skill to support communication among team members, with community contacts, school staff and families is required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills;
- Must follow all appropriate telework/virtual teaching guidelines and procedures as identified.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. 
- Must be flexible and able to tolerate many situations and personalities. 
- Must have reliable and adequate internet connectivity at home should the position require the employee to work remotely.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks.
