Job description

About Overland AI
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.
Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.
Role Summary
Overland AI is looking for an Accounting Manager to help build and scale our accounting function during an exciting period of growth. As the second accounting hire, you'll partner closely with our Senior Manager of Accounting and play a key role in shaping the systems, processes, and controls that support a rapidly growing defense technology company.
This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across the accounting function. You'll own core accounting processes, help implement new systems, support government and commercial programs, and contribute to projects that improve how we operate as we continue to scale.
If you enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and having a meaningful impact on how a finance organization grows, we'd love to talk.
As our company grows, so will this role. You'll have opportunities to expand into technical accounting, ERP implementation, government contracting, and process improvement while helping shape the future of our finance function.
What you'll do
  • Support the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
  • Manage accounts payable and spend operations through Ramp, including vendor management and bill processing.
  • Process government and commercial customer invoicing, accounts receivable, and collections.
  • Maintain fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and project accounting records.
  • Partner on our migration from QuickBooks Online to Campfire and help improve accounting workflows and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes as the business scales.
  • Support the annual financial audit, indirect rate calculations, and other compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Program teams on special projects as the company grows.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with general ledger, month-end close, and account reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience building reconciliations and financial analyses.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work from our Seattle office.
  • Ability to comply with U.S. export control laws.

Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • CPA (active or in progress).
  • Experience in manufacturing, technology, aerospace, defense, robotics, or another high-growth industry.
  • Experience supporting government contracting, project accounting, or cost accounting.
  • Experience with ERP implementations or process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Campfire, Ramp, Rippling, or similar accounting systems.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing company where you've helped improve processes and scale operations.

Benefits
Overland AI believes in creating a work environment that you look forward to embracing every day.
  • Salary range: $120,000 - $165,000 annually (plus generous equity compensation)
  • Best-in-class healthcare, dental, and vision plans
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid parental leave

Location
This position is based in Seattle, WA. Approximately 10% travel expected.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, marital status, disability, genetic information, protected veteran or military status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
This position may involve access to export-controlled technology. Employment is contingent on the ability to comply with U.S. export control laws.
Overland AI provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans during the application process. Please contact peopleops@overland.ai to request an accommodation.
