Job description

Salary: $87,000- $115,000

Summary:


The Project Manager to the Hill Mechanical Corporation (HMC) division of The Hill Group (Hill) liaises closely with team members to assist in the accomplishment of department goals. The Project Manager will act on behalf of Hill as the contact with the Customer, Owner, and/or Owners Representative or governing authorities regarding construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage projects ranging to $5M, or multiple projects totaling that value with little oversight from management
  • Identify value engineering and fabrication opportunities; present Customer with alternative options
  • Estimate/bid projects; must be capable of thorough analysis of project document requirements, vendor offers and Hill project requirements; negotiate with key vendors for competitive pricing
  • Promote other Hill disciplines to be project partners
  • Create site-specific safety plans and JHAs
  • Have an on-site presence at the project site; have basic understanding of all projects scopes (electrical, structural, etc.)
  • Manage the construction schedule and recognize whether the deliverables/tasks are on track; analyze and develop subcontractor schedules; communicate any change in schedules and address items that are not on schedule
  • Understand and process field work orders, RFIs, pay applications, change orders, submittals, etc.; requires an advanced understanding of the change order process and the ability to negotiate contracts and change orders
  • Understand project requirements such as OCIP/CCIP, tax exemptions, workforce and contract diversity goals, certified payrolls, etc.
  • Develop and implement MBE/WBE/DBE work plans with strategic partners
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of job costs; complete monthly forecasting of projects; monitor project metrics, including labor metrics which requires an understanding of the collective bargaining agreements for each trade Hill is signatory to and knowledge of MCA and SMACNA associations
  • Responsible for post-project review, metrics sharing and lessons learned
  • Mentor, train and develop Project Engineers and Interns, including delegation of tasks
  • All other duties as assigned


Experience and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related major is required
  • 7-10 years minimum experience working for a mechanical contractor
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in Bluebeam a plus
  • Experience in Penta and OnBase a plus
  • OSHA 30 Hour Card required; other safety certifications a plus

  • Requires an ability to take ownership and responsibility of situations
  • Requires an ability to be professional, build relationships with peers and clients while understanding the Hill reputation to uphold; must have ethical awareness
  • Must be proactive, have a sense of urgency, and have an ability to identify potential risks and how to mitigate
  • Requires an ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and adjust to changing situations
  • Requires the ability to be proactive, have initiative, great attention to detail, accuracy, and an ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise technical writing; also requires an ability to understand and use alternative modes of communication (face-to-face, phone, email, text, etc.) and when its appropriate to use the varying methods
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer services skills, and maintain a positive attitude while dealing professionally with co-workers, clients, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision while still being a team player
  • Must be dependable, organized and self-motivated


Compensation:

  • There are two (2) different levels of Project Managers at Hill; your experience and qualifications will be determined based on internal criteria; compensation level is determined based on this.
