Job description

Element Materials Technology is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented NDT Technician (Level II or Level III) specializing in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) to support aerospace and industrial testing operations in the Hartford laboratory. This role is responsible for performing inspections in accordance with industry standards while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and safety.

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000/yr DOE 


  • Perform Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) on aerospace and industrial components in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications (e.g., ASTM, NAS, customer requirements)
  • Interpret and evaluate indications to determine acceptability of parts
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate MPI equipment (bench units)
  • Ensure compliance with Nadcap, customer, and internal quality requirements
  • Accurately document inspection results and maintain traceability of records
  • Review work instructions, blueprints, and customer specifications prior to inspection
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards
  • Develop, review, and approve NDT procedures and techniques
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Level I and Level II personnel
  • Serve as the responsible Level III in accordance with NAS 410 / SNT-TC-1A
  • Interface with customers, auditors, and regulatory agencies
  • Support audits (Nadcap, customer, internal) and corrective action

  • Certification in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI):
  • Level II or Level III per NAS 410 and/or SNT-TC-1A
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Experience in aerospace inspection environment
  • Familiarity with Nadcap requirements
  • Multi-method NDT certification (e.g., PT, UT) a plus
  • Prior experience with digital reporting systems
