Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day
The NDT ASNT Level III is the site technical authority for assigned nondestructive testing methods supporting high-integrity nickel-based superalloy gas turbine blades and vanes. This hands-on individual contributor owns method governance, personnel qualification and certification, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement. Radiographic Testing is the primary area of expertise, followed by VT, PT, and UTT.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Serve as the responsible Level III for assigned NDT methods, requiring current ASNT Level III certification in at least one method, with priority given to Radiographic Testing (RT), followed by Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT).
  • Develop, review, approve, and maintain NDT procedures, techniques, work instructions, examinations, and qualification materials.
  • Interpret indications, support acceptance decisions, and resolve complex inspection issues in accordance with approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Administer the site NDT personnel certification program for assigned methods, including training, General, Specific, and Practical examinations, experience verification, certification, recertification, and record maintenance.
  • Mentor Level I and Level II personnel and strengthen site capability through structured training and knowledge transfer.
  • Support audits, equipment and process qualification, new product introduction, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and defect-escape prevention.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Metallurgy, Operations, and EHS to reduce inspection variation, scrap, rework, and nonconformance cost.
  • Support new NDT technology, automation, digital inspection, and harmonization of practices across Siemens Energy.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent directly relevant NDT experience and current ASNT Level III certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience training, examining, qualifying, and certifying NDT personnel and maintaining audit-ready records.
  • Significant NDT experience in manufacturing or another high-integrity industrial environment, including administration of an employer-based qualification and certification program.
  • ASNT Level III certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), with current Radiation Safety training required for industrial radiography work.
  • IRRSP certification is preferred; candidates without current IRRSP certification must be able to obtain and maintain it in accordance with site, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Level III certification or demonstrated qualification capability in VT and PT, plus practical UTT experience.
  • Ability to develop and approve NDT procedures, techniques, examinations, and technical dispositions.
  • Working knowledge of ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, ANSI/ASNT CP-105, ASME BPVC Section V, employer written practices, and applicable customer specifications.
  • Strong technical writing, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
