What is an ASNT Level II?

ASNT Level II inspectors are professionals certified by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) to perform and supervise nondestructive testing (NDT) methods. They are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct inspections, interpret and evaluate results, and supervise Level I personnel. ASNT Level II certification demonstrates advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in specific NDT methods, ensuring high standards of safety and quality in industries such as manufacturing, construction, and aerospace.

What does an ASNT Level II do?

ASNT Level II professionals frequently perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic, and eddy current testing, depending on their area of certification. In their daily duties, they are responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, conducting tests, interpreting results, and documenting findings. Collaboration is key, as they often work closely with Level I technicians, engineers, and quality assurance teams to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Level II personnel also play a supervisory role, providing guidance and technical support to less experienced staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ASNT Level II?

To thrive as an ASNT Level II, you need a solid understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, industry standards, and a valid ASNT Level II certification.
