The Plumbing Technician is responsible for maintaining plumbing and piping systems and associated components, identifying repair/replacement opportunities, and providing excellent customer service. This role will lead the installing, maintaining, and repairing of plumbing systems and fixtures which will include toilet replacements, faucet replacements, water heater replacements, soldering, and common plumbing repairs. In addition, this role will inspect and test plumbing systems for safety, functionality, water quality, and code compliance in residential. The Plumbing Technician will address customer queries, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and prepare cost estimates.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform residential and commercial plumbing service calls, including diagnostics, repairs, and installations.
  • Evaluate customer plumbing situation, develop multi-option proposals/estimates, and present to customers using the A-1/Groundworks Sales Methodology.
  • Works with customers for a thorough understanding of estimates
  • Understands service criteria and is accountable for exceeding revenue goals
  • Conduct camera inspections and respond to emergency plumbing situations
  • Diagnoses and repairs plumbing & piping systems and components in residential and commercial buildings
  • Ability to perform projects and service
  • Proficient in piping domestic, sewer, gas, and hydronic systems with experience in copper (soldering, pro press, and brazing), PVC, cast iron, gas piping (black iron, Gastite CSST), and PEX
  • Experience in boiler, chiller, and water heater replacement
  • Maintains tools, supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items and equipment are in safe operating condition
  • Knowledge of plumbing code
  • Prepares documentation for written support and conveys information appropriately
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve plumbing & piping issues
  • Enforces a safety-focused culture
  • Great craftsmanship required
  • On Call and weekend shifts: We have a rotating schedule. Each shift is a 5-day work week with 1-2 on calls per month.
  • It is an essential function of this job that the employee regularly and reliably reports to work on time each working day.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Residential Plumbing
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's license and insurable driving record required
  • Knowledge of basic hand and plumbing tools
  • Experience with home and commercial software and technology (example: ServiceTitan)
  • License and certifications preferred but not required: Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber, Backflow Tester, Leak Detection
  • Operations of plumbing & piping systems and related equipment
  • Comprehends technical information and blueprints
  • Attention to detail.
  • Has the ability to work independently.
  • Must be a team player, committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • The position lifts heavy objects and/or up to 50 lbs., walks, sits and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor.
  • The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively lifts and carries heavy loads.
  • The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand and arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • The employee must have excellent stamina.
  • Seeing with the ability to read reports, data, statistics and information on computer screens are required.
