Flat Iron Solder
BASIC FUNCTION:
Solders copper coils to mix can assemblies and barrels according to production specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Reads blueprints and production orders and retrieves parts. Determines required setup
and fixtures.
2. Cuts and bends copper tubing.
3. Cleans and grinds work pieces prior to soldering for proper bonding using grinders
and/or other cleaning apparatus, as needed.
4. Heats soldering iron in gas fired oven and uses acid to solder bond to mix tank or
barrel.
5. Guides soldering iron to melt solder to bond copper coils to mix tank or barrel.
6. Maintains proper iron temperature for melting of solder.
7. Uses acid, soft solder, and soldering iron to solder parts together to meet quality and
production standards.
8. Visually inspects and washes parts.
9. Operate and maintain in-process parts washing equipment.
10. Moves parts to specific work area for use in production.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Grinds irons for proper usage, as required.
2. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
3. Performs other production and cross-training as required.

Little or no contacts except with immediate co-workers.
External: Infrequent (1-5%)
Little or no contacts.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience: No prior work experience required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manual Dexterity: Work requires regular speed and accuracy for most of the working day.
Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable variety of fairly steady active physical
exertion.
Working Conditions: Continuous exposure to disagreeable features.
Hazards: Injury may require a doctor's care. Time lost for part of a day may be to
receive medical treatment.
