Role Overviewย 
We areย seekingย a compassionate, professional, and detail-orientedย Funeral Directorย to join the Cremation Society of Toledo team.ย 

The Funeral Director plays an essential part in guiding families through the arrangement process, coordinating cremation and funeral services,ย maintainingย required documentation and compliance standards, and ensuring every family receives dignified and compassionate care.ย 

Whatย Youโ€™llย Doย 

Family Care & Arrangementsย 

  • Meet with families to arrange cremation and funeral services with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.ย ย 
  • Guideย families through service options, merchandise selections, obituary preparation, and required documentation.ย ย 
  • Provide clear, supportive communication to families throughout the arrangement and cremation process.ย ย 
  • Respond to incoming calls, electronic inquiries, and in-person requests inย a timelyย and professional manner.ย ย 
  • Support families during emotionally sensitive situations whileย maintainingย dignity, patience, and respect.ย ย 

Cremation & Service Coordination

  • Coordinate all aspects of the cremation process from first call through final disposition.ย ย 
  • Communicate with hospitals, hospices, nursing facilities, coroners, cemeteries, clergy, and other third parties as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate services, transfers, authorizations, permits, and relatedย logistics.ย ย 
  • Ensure all cremation-related documentation isย accurate, complete, and processedย in accordance withย company standards and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain strict identification, chain-of-custody, and authorization procedures throughout all stages of care.ย ย 

Compliance, Documentation & Operational Supportย 

  • Maintainย accurateย records, forms, case files, and digital documentationย in accordance withย company policies and legal requirements.
  • Follow applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements related to funeral service and cremation.
  • Support internal processes related to case management, documentation, scheduling, and family follow-up.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as scheduled.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor whileย representingย the organization.ย ย 

Team Collaboration & Culture

  • Support a team-oriented environment byย assistingย coworkers and contributing to daily operational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, team members, families, vendors, and external partners.
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a willingness to support families and colleagues as needs arise.

Whatย Youโ€™llย Bringย 

  • Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Ohio, orย abilityย to obtain reciprocity if licensed in another state.ย 
  • Prior experience in funeral service, cremation arrangements, or related family care preferred.ย 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.ย ย 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.ย ย 
  • Comfort working with technology, online arrangement platforms, digital documentation systems, and case management tools.ย ย 
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.ย ย 
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and sound judgment.ย ย 
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with an acceptable driving record.ย ย 
  • Ability toย participateย in on-call rotations andย workย a flexible schedule as needed.ย
