What is an Oma?

'Oma' is not commonly recognized as a formal job title in most professional settings. The word 'Oma' is the German term for 'grandmother,' and in some cultures, it can refer to a family or community elder who may provide wisdom, caregiving, or support. In rare cases, some organizations or community groups may use 'Oma' informally to refer to someone who plays a nurturing or advisory role, but it is not a standardized occupation. If you are referring to a specific job or role called 'Oma,' please provide additional context.

What are some common challenges faced by Occupational Medicine Assistants (OMA) when supporting workplace health programs?

Occupational Medicine Assistants (OMAs) often face challenges such as managing a high volume of employee health records while ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance. They may also need to coordinate between healthcare providers, employees, and management to schedule assessments and follow-up care efficiently. Balancing administrative duties with direct patient support, especially during workplace health crises or outbreaks, can require strong organizational and communication skills. Additionally, adapting to evolving workplace health regulations and protocols is crucial for success in this role.

What is the difference between Oma vs Caregiver?

AspectOmaCaregiver
CredentialsVaries; often no formal certification requiredOften requires certification or training
Work EnvironmentAssists elderly or disabled in home or care facilitiesProvides personal care and support in homes or facilities
Industry UsageCommonly used in healthcare and senior care sectorsWidely used across healthcare, home care, and assisted living

Oma and Caregiver roles both involve providing support to individuals in need, but Oma often refers to a specific cultural or regional term for a caregiver, especially in certain communities, while Caregiver is a broader, more universally recognized job title. The main differences lie in credentials, work environment, and industry terminology, with Oma sometimes implying a more informal or familial role, whereas Caregiver typically involves formal training and certification.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Oma, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Oma, strong family engagement, caregiving abilities, and intergenerational communication skills are essential, though formal qualifications are not typically required. Familiarity with household management tools, digital communication apps, and sometimes basic first aid can be helpful. Patience, empathy, and adaptability help build meaningful relationships and create a supportive family environment. These qualities are important because they foster emotional security, support, and guidance for grandchildren and the extended family.

Job description

Physician & Community Liaison

Territory: St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, GA

Are you looking for a new opportunity in a fast growing market space, where innovation and forward thinking is rewarded, diversity is valued, and you make a difference in the lives of others?

At Oma Fertility, an Oma Robotics brand, we believe in a world in which everyone seeking to have a child can access successful fertility treatment. We're on a mission to empower growing families with science forward, affordable treatment. We've created technology powered by AI that aims to lead to better pregnancy outcomes, built our labs to meet the most rigorous standards, designed a care approach that's personalized and personable, and are committed to ethical pricing.

This mission was the catalyst to secure financial backing to both develop the technology and open our own Oma Fertility clinics throughout the US. Recently named to Insider's list of the 34 Most Promising Women's Health Startups of 2022, this is a rare opportunity to join a team changing one of healthcare's most important and human-centered services.

About the Role

We're seeking a Physician & Community Liaison (PL) to join our Marketing team and play a key role in our growth and local market outreach in St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, GA. We aren't putting the same old fertility experience behind a shiny new waiting room and that same mentality goes for this role and how we bring awareness to and develop a patient referral source network. Reporting to the Director, Clinical Marketing, this is an ideal opportunity for someone who isn't afraid to break the norm and help forge a new path forward. This full-time role is a blend of sales, marketing, and educational activities and tactics and the ideal candidate will help define this role and set the foundation for Oma's future growth. This person will be responsible for driving awareness of Oma Fertility in the local communities, building relationships with referral sources, and ultimately driving new patient visits.

Responsibilities
  • Introduce Oma Fertility to potential referral sources including physicians/clinical staff, complimentary service providers, and community organizations via in person visits and other means
  • Demonstrate we are at the forefront of the fertility space by highlighting what makes us different from other fertility clinics and by providing value and education to referral sources, their employees, and patrons
  • Help strategize and execute referral source sales/marketing plan to reach target audiences in designated territories by identifying opportunities, qualifying referral sources and receiving patient referrals
  • Create and maintain a territory action plan, inline with the sales/marketing plan, to maximize coverage of the territory and systematically identify new opportunities, maintain and build relationships, and proactively address any issues/declines in referrals
  • Overcome objections, build credibility and long-term relationships with referral sources while looking for ways to enhance the referral source experience
  • Coordinate Oma Fertility hosted events including: provider meetings, educational events, dinner presentations, tours, etc. to provide referral sources face-to-face interaction with our team
  • Represent Oma Fertility at local community events where our target audiences will be with the goal of creating awareness and reaching potential new patients
  • Help build and maintain our CRM database, track activities and opportunities, utilize dashboards & other reporting tools to plan and evaluate overall successes and areas in need of improvement
  • Support the development and growth of the sales/marketing team and plan with other miscellaneous tasks as needed to help drive new patient visits
Requirements
  • 3+ years of proven success in an outside sales role in the healthcare field, preferably in women's health (technology experience/sales a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills utilizing a consultative sales approach with the ability to communicate complex information in a manner that reflects the audience's level of understanding
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, can work independently and has strong time management skills to maximize effectiveness
  • Creative thinker who isn't afraid to collaborate with internal teams, experiment, learn and incorporate new ideas into their role/strategies
  • Detail oriented with a willingness to use CRM on a daily basis to track all activities, monitor results, and make adjustments as needed
  • Represent Oma Fertility with the utmost professionalism, protecting patient confidentiality, following company policies/procedures and safeguarding confidential and proprietary information
  • Reliable transportation (in your home base market) as this is primarily an outside sales position with little time spent in the office
  • The ability to travel ~50% to other market(s) assigned to your territory (transportation needs/expenses covered by company), additional markets/territory realignments are possible dependent on company growth
  • Some nights and weekends will be required to accommodate specific events
  • BS/BA preferred, equivalent work experience
Benefits
  • Base salary + monthly/quarterly incentive based bonuses.
  • Full health benefits (medical, dental, vision, HSA) and 401k match program
  • Paid holidays, PTO, sick time, and parental leave
  • Company provided computer, smartphone and car allowance
  • Expense budget for travel and referral source outreach purchasing needs
