Job description

We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team in Mendota, IL. This includes communication and coordinating effectively with plant processing, HESS and local management. The Operations Manager oversees and performs the preventive and reactive maintenance duties required for the manufacturing operations of the plant and resolves any issues in a timely manner. Priorities of the Operations Manager include management and execution of PM schedules. Repair of any equipment for maintaining maximum production rates. Maintain adequate spare parts inventory. This is a hands-on leadership position that leads the scheduling and implementation for the maintenance team and strives for operational excellence as the low-cost service provider- all in a safe, open, and transparent environment. This position will be working outdoors at times and in different weather conditions. Exposure to used cooking oil odors and equipment and areas that are greasy is common.
This is a safety sensitive position.
This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, weekends as required and fulfill on-call duties for repairs and assistance.
Schedule: 7am to 3:30pm
Starting annual salary: $80,000-$85,000
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Set daily work priorities and assign work orders to maintenance team. Assign schedules and maintenance duties.
  • Align, fit, and assemble component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
  • Repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical components and circuits of various voltages 480vac 3phase, 110 and 220.and follow schematics.
  • Monitor, manage and improve maintenance technicians productivity.
  • Responsible for all maintenance department training and safety.
  • Execute the work order system in a timely and efficient manner: use work orders on all customer points of contact and close work orders timely.
  • Assist Manager with the preparation of the annual business plan and expenses and capital budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance and production team regarding daily plant processing and work orders.
  • Establish and maintain a proactive and professional environment for all employees.
  • Communicate daily with maintenance technicians to resolve maintenance concerns and safety related issues.
  • Assist and develop and implement a cross training schedule for maintenance technicians to learn multiple service areas with Manager.
  • Assist maintenance technicians to ensure all equipment and tools are being used and in proper working condition.
  • Fill in for any vacations or call offs and any additional coverage needs.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures and support all safety initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skill, Experience and Abilities:
  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite required, experience working with Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to MIG or TIG weld preferred.
  • At least three years related industrial maintenance experience required.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory or lead experience required.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 100lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, kneel, climb ladders and squat for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 35 feet, in confined spaces, and in adverse temperatures and weather conditions.
