Job description

HGA is hiring for a Pipeline Engineer in Houston, Texas to support client operations.
HGA is seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer to provide engineering support on a variety of natural gas and liquids pipeline and meter station projects in Houston, Texas, supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of energy. This person will serve as the technical lead, responsible for front-end and detailed pipeline engineering, interpreting company specifications to scope projects, and directing engineering and construction firms. The role will primarily support pipeline and meter station projects across multiple project managers and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as technical lead for front-end and detailed pipeline engineering
  • Interpret company specifications to scope projects and direct engineering and construction firms
  • Check drawing packages for adherence to project goals and company/industry specifications, codes, and standards
  • Select appropriate materials and ensure fitness for purpose
  • Support multiple project managers across various pipeline and meter station projects
  • Draft engineering, construction, and land contracts
  • Communicate project status and technical matters to management, team members, clients, permitting agency personnel, and contractors
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited curriculum
  • Project Engineering Manager experience
  • Experience with 7C projects, including routing and mechanical design experience
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Strong technical writing capabilities
  • Strong skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
  • Well organized with a high degree of initiative and motivation
  • Ability to work positively and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of representing the project team to management
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
  • Valid driver's license and insurability
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship or co-op experience with an oil/gas/utility operating company
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • 5-10 years of experience in design and engineering leadership within pipeline engineering
  • Understanding of ASME B31.8 and 49 CFR Part 192 & 195 code requirements
  • Basic survey skills and knowledge of survey technology
  • Civil or Mechanical Engineering concentration, MBA, or PE license
