Mechanic - Oil & Gas Industry
Location: Orla / Carlsbad, TX Area
Schedule: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off
Employment Type: Full-Time Rotational
Position Summary
Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Mechanic to support mechanical maintenance activities on production facilities in the Orla and Carlsbad, Texas area. This position is ideal for a highly skilled mechanic with extensive experience maintaining natural gas compression equipment, rotating equipment, pumps, and Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs).
The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on oil and gas production equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair natural gas compressors, engines, pumps, VRUs, and other rotating equipment.
Maintain and repair reciprocating compressors and associated mechanical systems.
Diagnose mechanical failures and return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
Complete scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
Utilize CMMS and mobile work order systems to document maintenance activities.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and maintenance procedures.
Maintain company equipment, vehicles, and assigned tools in good working condition.
Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.
Work closely with operations personnel to minimize production downtime.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum 5 years of oil & gas mechanical experience.
Experience with natural gas compressors, VRUs, air compressors, pumps, and rotating equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CAT 3608 & 3616 engines.
Experience with Ariel compressors.
Experience with Flogistix VRUs.
Experience with centrifugal and reciprocating pumps.
Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field (preferred).
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: Approximately $45-$50/hour (DOE)
14/14 rotational schedule
Lodging provided during work rotation
Company service-body ¾-ton truck provided
Company tools and air compressor provided
