Job description

Middlebury Eye Associates has been serving the community of Vermont with quality care for over 30 years. As the leading Optometrists in our community, we take pride in providing personalized vision care tailored to our patientโ€™s needs. We offer primary eye services such as comprehensive eye exams, contact lens services, eyewear, medical treatments, and emergency eye care. Approximately 40% of the services we offer are vision exams and 60% are related to medical diagnosis and treatments. Our patient population includes all ages.

We are a dedicated team who works together on creating a warm atmosphere where each of our team members feels supported by one another. Our team currently consists of 6 experienced Optometrists, 3 opticians, 5 technicians/front desk staff/jack-of-all trades, and 1 office manager. This team is the best we've ever had and we are seeking an optometrist to add to our ever improving team. Our technicians handle all pre-testing, history, and initial data entry so our Optometrists are able to fully focus on patient care. On average, our Optometrists perform about 9 comprehensive exams per day with 3-4 brief office visits/problem focused visits. Our practice has 4 fully equipped exam lanes and state-of-the-art technology:

  • Anterior photography
  • Optos
  • Autorefractor/Topographer

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented OD to join our growing practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal Optometrist candidate is someone who is personable, entrepreneurial, and caring. Candidates with experience treating Glaucoma is definitely a plus! But not required. Our team of experienced professionals will provide mentorship and training to help develop your clinical skills. 

This is a full-time opportunity! 

Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and contact lenses
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress using EHR
  • Handle eyecare emergencies
