Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while advancing the field of neuroscience. 


Our Arlington, TN office is looking for a full-time medical assistant who has their limited X-Ray certification. In this role, you will assist the physicians and nurses during the examination and treatment of patients. You will also preform limited diagnostic x-rays. This role is Monday to Friday and the clinic is closed on weekends and holidays. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares rooms, equipment and supplies for examination of patients; cleans and sterilizes instruments
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height), and records information in patient chart; reports abnormal values to nurse and/or provider
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging across the full scope of your Tennessee Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) certification, including provider-ordered imaging of the chest, extremities, head, neck, and other studies permitted under Tennessee regulations
  • Prepare and position patients appropriately for radiographic imaging
  • Performs staple and suture removal and wound care using aseptic technique
  • Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient, and provides compassionate care

Requirements

MINIMUM

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Program
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation
  • Active Tennessee Limited X-Ray Machine Operator Certification 
  • BLS certification

PREFERRED

  • One (1) year experience in an outpatient/clinic environment
  • One (1) year experience producing diagnostic X-ray imaging 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), electronic medical records (EMR) and other software
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to write clearly and informatively while editing work for spelling and grammar errors; communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional patient situations with empathy, speaking clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations
  • Can provide excellent customer service with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Can balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit
  • Ability to manage and complete various responsibilities in a timely manner within a fast paced environment
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Adaptable to changes in the work environment, dealing with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Possesses understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
  • Ability for same-day local/regional travel to assigned clinic locations as required by the role.
