The job details are as follows:

The Technical Product Manager oversees the technical aspects of product planning and development, providing essential input to the global engineering team on product and system design. As the subject matter expert, they guide product and development staff, producing key deliverables such as product strategy, roadmap, annual product plans, launch plans, white papers, and user personas. They ensure requirements are met by liaising with development staff and collaborating with architects on product strategy and project execution.

Additionally, the Technical Product Manager contributes to portfolio business plans, strategies, roadmaps, metrics, operational plans, progress reviews, user requirements, and functional specifications. Their role focuses on integrating industry trends and innovations into the OCLC domain, coordinating activities among the Data Services Portfolio, Global Engineering, and OCLC Research.

Responsibilities:
  • Product Strategy and Planning:
    • Produces product roadmap
    • Collaborates on release plans with Development
  • Technology Assessment:
    • Assesses new technology and adds value to existing products by improving features to create best in class solutions and/or reduce costs
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provides leadership to cross-functional product workgroups.
    • Leads Product management meetings.
    • Resolves conflicts and drives consensus.
    • Facilitates collaboration and communication and secures commitment between Development and Product Management and other divisional workgroups towards achievement of common goals.
    • Develops and monitors progress on product roadmap
  • Consultation on Portfolio Planning:
    • Provides input into portfolio business plans, roadmaps, strategies, metrics, and progress reports and reviews
Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related fields
  • 2-4 years experience in software design, software development, system analysis, data architecture, or data modeling
  • 2 to 4 years experience in product, project or program management
  • 2 to 4 years experience in supporting online/database services, preferably in the library field
  • Well developed communication and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model
  • Strong customer relationship skills
Desired but not Required:
  • Experience in managing staff or team leadership
  • Experience leading cross functional workgroups
  • Knowledge of OCLC products and services
  • 2 to 4 years experience in library services or library management systems
  • Extensive understanding of technical capabilities and market requirements needed to develop innovative market plans
