Job description

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking dependable and compassionate Overnight Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide awake overnight support within residential group homes serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Ocean County, New Jersey.

This position is ideal for individuals who are attentive, responsible, and committed to maintaining a safe and supportive overnight environment while assisting residents with their needs during evening and early morning hours.

Position Details
  • Schedule: Overnight Awake Shift | 11:00 PM - 9:00 AM
  • Employment Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available
  • Location: Ocean County, NJ
  • Pay Rate: Starting at $20.20 per hour
  • Additional Earnings: Opportunities for shift differentials and overtime may increase earnings up to $24.20 per hour
  • Weekend availability required

Staff assigned to this role are required to remain awake, alert, and engaged for the entirety of the overnight shift.

Essential Responsibilities

As an Overnight DSP, you will help ensure the health, safety, and comfort of residents throughout the night while supporting daily living needs and maintaining a structured residential environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide continuous awake supervision during overnight hours.
  • Complete required hourly check-ins utilizing the agency's time and attendance system.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to resident requests, concerns, or emergencies.
  • Assist residents with morning routines and preparation for daily activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure residential environment, including completion of assigned housekeeping duties.
  • Observe and report maintenance or safety concerns related to the home or equipment.
  • Provide direct support with activities of daily living including hygiene, grooming, laundry, meal preparation, and cleaning tasks.
  • Administer medications in accordance with agency procedures and individualized care plans.
  • Follow all behavioral, medical, dietary, mobility, and safety support plans as assigned.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation including communication logs, medication records, and daily notes.
  • Support individual goals and document progress toward established outcomes.
  • Promote and protect the dignity, rights, independence, and personal choices of all individuals served.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing required, with no more than five (5) points.
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Must be capable of performing physical job duties including lifting or assisting with up to 50 pounds, supporting mobility needs, and completing household responsibilities.
