The Position
Ocean County College (OCC) seeks a passionate, innovative, and collaborative full-time lecturer to lead our newly redesigned Media Production program. The College is looking for someone with experience and enthusiasm for film, television, and media education, as well as the ability to leverage the College's facilities, resources, and networks to elevate OCC's media production footprint across Ocean County. With a full-scale TV studio, production lab, multiple theaters and venues, and industry-level equipment, OCC seeks someone who can grow and develop the program to make the College a leader and pipeline for media in the region.
This position offers the ability to integrate industry knowledge and experience in and outside of the classroom, building hands-on experiential learning and networking opportunities for students throughout their academic journey.
This position provides instructional and administrative services including teaching, adjunct mentoring and observations, program assessments, committee and college governance membership, CTE funding assessment and advisory committee participation, and other relevant duties.
This position is expected to start in January 2027 for the spring semester.
Classification: College Lecturer (Non-Tenure Track Position)
Instructional Duration: Annual - 12 months
This is an in-person position, candidates must be able to teach in-person at our Tom's River location. Non-local candidates must be willing and able to relocate to a commutable distance from Tom's River, NJ to begin the position.

What You Will Do
  1. Teaches thirty-six (36) credit hours of classes annually: fifteen (15) credit hours each fall and spring and six (6) credit hours during the summer sessions.
  2. Collaborates and coordinates with college, community, and industry partners to create content and networks within the region.
  3. Helps develop opportunities for work-based learning, internships, and pathways for industry experience.
  4. Participates on advisory committees, boards, and relevant career and workforce opportunities.
  5. Conducts academic assessments for developing or improving Media Production.
  6. Conducts classroom observations, evaluations, and mentoring of adjunct faculty.
  7. Contributes to student success by being actively engaged in strategic planning; the accreditation process, orientation, student advising, commencement, and a variety of committees, clubs, events, college and community liaison initiatives.
  8. Related projects and initiatives.

The Successful Candidate Must Have
  1. Education - one of the following:
    a. Master's Degree in the discipline (e.g., Communication, Media, Film);
    b. Master's Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline;
    c. Master's Degree in a different discipline, plus at least five (5) years of related professional experience
  2. Two years' full-time teaching experience in the field or at least six (6) semesters of part-time teaching experience at the college level.
  3. Experience teaching in a diverse environment to include students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Even Better If You Have
  1. Direct industry experience in the areas of media, television, and/or film.
  2. Experience using instructional technology.
  3. Experience in evaluating teaching effectiveness.
  4. Experience assisting with curriculum and program development.
