Opportunity:

Surgical Assistant - OR

Job Details:

• Shift times vary: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, or 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Weekend rotation required with 1 full weekend of on-call per month (end of shift Friday through Monday at 6:30 AM)
• 4 weeknight on-call shifts per month (end of shift through 6:30 AM the following morning)
• 30-minute response time required for on-call shifts
• Cover OB call after 5:00 PM on weekdays and weekends
• Holiday expectations are on-call only and will be placed in rotation
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Must be comfortable performing both Surgical Assistant and Surgical Tech duties interchangeably
• Must have strong experience in orthopedic cases including total joints and femoral/tibial rodding
• Must have strong experience in neurology cases including laminectomies and burr holes
• Patient types include adults with ortho/neuro cases, total joints, craniotomies, laminectomies, fusions, robotic surgery, gallbladder, colectomy, general surgery, bariatric, and urology
• Pediatric cases include ENT and emergent cases
• Required certifications: BLS and CSA
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Unit-specific equipment: DaVinci XI Robot
• Scrubs are provided
• Parking is free
• No floating required

Facility:

This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center operating with 91 beds and 10 surgical suites, running 7 rooms at a time. The department handles 12-20 surgical cases per day and maintains a travel-friendly unit culture. The facility offers comprehensive support including a charge nurse, educator, phlebotomy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, unit secretary, and an in-house RN and surgical tech team for 24/7 trauma support.
