Job description

Take your craft further. Set the standard. Make your mark at Medinah.
Why Choose Medinah?
Since 1924, Medinah Country Club has built a rich history and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Today, that tradition continues through the people who bring the Medinah experience to life every day.
Working at Medinah isn't your typical kitchen job. Our culinary team supports multiple restaurants, seasonal dining, private events, banquets, and some of the Club's most exciting moments.
We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We believe great hospitality comes from talented people who enjoy what they do, support one another, and take pride in creating something special. If you're an experienced cook ready to take greater ownership in the kitchen and continue advancing your craft, Medinah may be the place for you.
Meet the Kitchens of Medinah
One of the best parts of joining Medinah's culinary team is the variety. Depending on business needs, you may have opportunities to work within:
  • The Fireside: Our year-round fine-dining restaurant, where precision, creativity, and elevated cuisine come together.
  • The Oasis: Our year-round casual dining restaurant serving everything from breakfast during peak season to comfort classics and member favorites.
  • The Mecca: Our lively seasonal restaurant featuring fresh, warm-weather menus.
  • Banquets & Catering: A high-volume operation supporting weddings, receptions, Club events, holiday celebrations, and everything from plated dinners to large-scale buffets.

Different kitchens. Different experiences. Plenty of opportunities to take your craft further.
You Might Be A Great Fit If...
You're confident in the kitchen and take pride in being someone your team can count on.
You might be a great fit if you:
  • Have strong culinary fundamentals and confidence working across multiple stations.
  • Take ownership of your preparation, organization, and execution.
  • Maintain high standards for flavor, consistency, portioning, and presentation.
  • Anticipate what needs to happen next instead of always waiting to be asked.
  • Stay composed and organized during high-volume service.
  • Enjoy sharing your knowledge and supporting developing members of the culinary team.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Cook III, you'll be an experienced member of the culinary team, trusted to execute at a high level and help maintain Medinah's standards throughout service.
Execute. Prepare and execute menu items with a high level of consistency, accuracy, and attention to presentation.
Own Your Station. Independently set up, organize, operate, and break down assigned stations while anticipating the needs of service.
Set the Standard. Maintain expectations for proper cooking techniques, seasoning, portion control, presentation, and timing.
Support the Team. Serve as a dependable resource for fellow cooks and help reinforce proper procedures and kitchen standards.
Stay Ready. Maintain proper preparation levels, communicate needs, and help keep service running efficiently.
Protect Quality. Follow and reinforce food safety, sanitation, equipment, and workplace safety standards.
Keep Growing. Continue developing your culinary knowledge while gaining exposure to Medinah's diverse dining outlets, menus, and events.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced culinary professional who can step into the kitchen with confidence and contribute at a high level.
We'd love to see:
  • Progressive professional cooking experience, ideally within a high-volume, upscale, club, hotel, resort, or comparable culinary environment.
  • Strong proficiency in professional cooking techniques and multiple kitchen stations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently organize and execute a station during service.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • A willingness to support and share knowledge with developing members of the culinary team.
  • Food Handler Certification as required by the State of Illinois.

Culinary degree or formal training? That's a plus, but we know some of the best culinary education happens in the kitchen. We value the skills and experience you've built throughout your career.
What Is In It For You
We believe great work deserves great support.
Eligible team members can enjoy:
  • $20 to $22 per hour
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Uniforms provided
  • Employee meals
  • Opportunities to learn, cross-train, and grow within Medinah's culinary operation
