The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

We’re hiring a Bike Rental Tech to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park!

Job Summary:
Perform bike maintenance and safety inspections, assist guests with rentals, and provide them with technical expertise. This position will also work shifts as a retail cashier. 

The Details:
Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: October
Pay: $17.20/ hr
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behaviors with all guests and employees.
  • Perform bike maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Provide technical expertise to guests and employees.
  • Accurately document handling in relation to fleet service and rental management.
  • Inspect, tune, adjust, and/or dispatch bicycles, gear, and accessories.
  • Assist guests with retail and rental products, forms, and purchases.
  • Provide information about the resort, retail, rental and repair shop, and equipment, and products and services available.
  • Ensure that all steps are taken to promote guest safety by properly completing and handling paperwork, document procedures, and equipment.
  • Intake of guest equipment; evaluating, recommending, documenting, and preparing equipment for services.
  • Facilitate the equipment check out and return process and give an explanation of equipment function.
  • Follow proper release of liability procedures
  • Becomes fully qualified as register operator in regard to all retail transactions.
  • Maintains an accurate bank.
  • Assists all customers in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.
  • Keeps designated work areas neat, clean, and properly stocked.
  • Obtains as much product information as possible in order to enlighten customers on items sold at all Retail Outlets.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to Complete Bosch Online Certification Training.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have a neat and clean appearance as reflected in Employee Handbook grooming standards.
  • Must be available to work all shifts and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must possess or obtain a California Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire. On-site training is available.
  • Must possess or obtain a TIPS certification for sellers of alcohol within 30 days of hire. On-site training is available.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically able to work standing for eight hours and must have the endurance to function in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. up to shoulder height.
  • Must be able to withstand working in extreme outdoor summer temperatures.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and grasp.
  • Will be required to work in a refrigerated walk-in cooler with temperatures between 35-45 degrees.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
