Job description

Nutrition Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Coordinator. A Nutrition Assistant is an individual on the staff of the local agency responsible for providing clinic and office support to the Competent Professional Authority (CPA and Qualified Nutritionist (QN) staff and at times to the Data Analysts (DA)

Provide clinic and office support to the Competent Professional Authority (CPA) and Qualified Nutritionist (QN)

Set the tone for excellent customer service to participants as they enter the

clinic

Collect information for the nutrition assessment process, including obtaining

anthropometric and hematological data, as trained

Participate in breastfeeding promotion and support

Provides referrals and documents in NYWIC.

Conduct all duties if needed of the Data Analyst (Recertification, schedule/

roaster appointments) etc.

Provide referrals and document follow-up

Identify and refer participants to a CPA or QN

Assisting participants in setting up the WIC2GO account

Updates e-WIC Card inventory as needed.

Review Rights and Responsibilities with participants and explain program

procedures

Provide additional program information, such topics as WIC benefits, the

Farmers Market Nutrition Program, or any event the LA is promoting at the

time

Nutrition Assistant to assist in initiatives for participant retention, caseload

management, and provider schedule analysis.

Orders received and stocks of all medical supplies

Provides participants with VOC transfers

Use Propio ONE (interpretation services) to provide services in the

applicant's preferred language (when necessary)

Perform outreach and program marketing within the institution and community

agencies.

Collaborates on all outreach site-specific reports

Uses Teletask (messaging services) services for the following: sending out

reminder appointments and no-shows reports. Communication with participants

and receiving the required documents from participants

Keeps supervisor and appropriate team members informed of significant

matters that impact operations

Adheres to the SBH time and attendance policy and procedure

Other duties as needed
