Overview

To assist in the developing and implementing instrumentation and control concepts as well as maintaining the current control and Automation systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates degree or five years of technical trade school
  • Experience in developing and maintaining instrument indices, I/O lists, and datasheets
  • Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation's PLC/HMI systems, and Yokogawa or other DCS systems
  • Experience with industrial communication networks

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

         Ability to work independently with little to no direction and take initiative within scope of work responsibilities

         Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills

         Demonstratable technical proficiency with strong organizational and time management skills

         Ability to manage multiple projects

         Working knowledge of the National Electronic Code (NEC) and electrical installation and mechanical practices

         Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation's PLC/HMI systems, and Yokogawa or other DCS systems.

         Project Management Skills is a plus.

         Experience with industrial communication networks.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:This position works in a production environment to include inside and outside work. This position may perform activities in an environment that contains hazardous elements and requires safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, BPRs, and support the compliance of applicable ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 6 hours per day; stand, walk, bend over and reach above head less than an hour a day; minimal lifting or carrying of 50 pounds occasionally and repetitive use of hands/arms for writing and computer work. Position requires the ability to climb ladders and be at high levels

Responsibilities

         Develop instrument index, I/O list, instrument data sheets, etc. using an instrument database or similar tool

         Assist in selection of instrumentation for process control applications

         Assist in performing instrument sizing calculations for valves, flowmeters, etc.

         Assist Process Engineers and other disciplines with P&ID development

         Develop Control System Network drawings

         Develop or modify PLC/HMI or DCS applications as required

         Coordinate with other disciplines to locate control panels and ensure appropriate control power and utilities are provided for I&C devices and panels

         Provide I&C and automation feedback for the control requirements of process and mechanical equipment

         Develop I&C and automation construction specifications as required

         Manage projects from start to finish to provide support to the maintenance E/I department with training, project documentation, and drawing

         Mentor E&I Technician, Automation Specialist, Control Technicians, and Maintenance contractors onsite as required

         Work with OEM and engineering firms to create control panels drawings, and review for accuracy and specification requirements

         Perform maintenance and upgrades on existing control systems industrial communication networks

         Develop and/or modify PLC/HMI or DCS applications as required

         On call duty on a rotating basis for automation issues

         Other duties as assigned
