Job description

Kalon Executive Search is partnering with an innovative global ingredient manufacturer to identify an experienced Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth across the U.S. nutraceutical market. This is a true hunter role focused on identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with dietary supplement, functional food, and beverage manufacturers. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sales professional with a proven track record of opening new accounts, building long-term customer relationships, and consistently exceeding sales targets.

*** This is a remote position in the US with extensive travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities with dietary supplement, functional food, and beverage brands as well as contract manufacturers throughout the United States.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities while achieving new business revenue goals.
  • Initiate relationships with key decision-makers including R&D, product development, procurement, sourcing, innovation, and executive leadership teams.
  • Present differentiated ingredient solutions and communicate their scientific, technical, and commercial value to prospective customers.
  • Represent the company at major industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate new business opportunities.
  • Transition qualified accounts to technical sales and account management teams once opportunities advance into the implementation phase.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline forecasting, and customer information within the company's CRM system.
  • Partner closely with marketing to support account-based outreach campaigns, lead nurturing, and follow-up initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates on pipeline health, sales forecasts, market intelligence, and business development activities to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of B2B sales experience selling branded, clinically studied, nutraceutical ingredients.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and acquiring new customer accounts through proactive prospecting and relationship development.
  • Experience selling branded ingredients, specialty ingredients, or raw materials into supplement, food, beverage, or contract manufacturing organizations is highly preferred.
  • Ability to build credibility with both commercial decision-makers and technical stakeholders, including R&D and product development teams.
  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple sales opportunities simultaneously.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms to manage sales activity, forecasting, and pipeline reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree required; degrees in Nutrition, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or other life science disciplines are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States to support customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
  • Existing network within the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, functional food, or ingredient manufacturing industries.
  • Experience selling clinically supported or science-backed ingredient solutions.
  • Proven history of consistently achieving or exceeding sales quotas in a business development-focused role.

Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 Base Salary + Uncapped Commission and Benefits
